Writing the place

It is both serendipitous and obvious that we would read an excerpt about the Mississippi River as this is what (in part) of my final project will entail. I am going to write about an early travel writer and how his exploits were profoundly influential on his writings and his novels. This author would become one of the greatest American authors of all time but even the greatest have the humblest of beginnings. He had to start somewhere and traveling was his muse. I plan to channel his writings, his style and blend them with Anthony Bourdain’s sassy style and a little Hemingway to warm things up. I have a entertaining and shocking story to tell about a trip I took to the Mississippi River and how it changed my perspective on race, gender, equality, and writing.
